Dean and I have been working on a Roman Numerals poster. We have been learning about Roman Numerals and we thought we could put our learning together to make a poster. On our poster we had a chart to stick on our poster so people could get an idea of Roman Numerals. There where Roman Numerals from 1 to 100 in Roman with an English translation next to the number. We also put some facts about Roman Numerals and a Roman clock.

Fractions
Jack had 24 apples. He gave 1/6 of these to mike. How many did mike get?
Ariana's thinking....
1/6 of 24=4 so mike got 4 apples.

Maths
I am learning to...
- use tidy numbers and
- use place value & splitting
92-49=43
- 92+1=93 49+1=50 93-50=43
- 92-49=43 92-40=52-9=43
84-38=
- 84+2=86 38+2=40 86-40=46
- 84-30=54-8=46

Maths
I am learning to solve 2 and 3 digit addition problems by using place value.
38+49=87 (30+40=70)+(8+9=17)
68+25= 93 (60+20=80)+(8+5=13)
57+26=83 (50+20=70)+(7+6=13)
38+49=87 (30+40=70)+(8+9=17)
68+25= 93 (60+20=80)+(8+5=13)
57+26=83 (50+20=70)+(7+6=13)

Maths
I am learning to solve addition problems by going back through the tens.
34-7=47 (34-4+30-3=47)
65-8=57 (65-5=60-3=57)
72-9=63 (72-2=70-7=63
83-8=75 (83-3=80-5=75)
132-7=125 (132-2=130-5=125)
271-8=263 (271-1=270-7=263)
393-6=387 (393-3=390-3=387)
I solved these problems by going back to a tidy ten.Then I took away the one that I had left.
34-7=47 (34-4+30-3=47)
65-8=57 (65-5=60-3=57)
72-9=63 (72-2=70-7=63
83-8=75 (83-3=80-5=75)
132-7=125 (132-2=130-5=125)

Maths
W.A.L.T... solve the 6x , 7x and 4x using the 5x tables
4x6=24 (4x5=20)+( 4x1=4)
6x7=42 (6x5=30)+(6x2=12)
4x7=28 (4x5=20)+(4x2=8)
7x6=42 (7x5=35)+(7x1=7)
I used the fly flips to solve these problems.
4x6=24 (4x5=20)+( 4x1=4)
6x7=42 (6x5=30)+(6x2=12)
4x7=28 (4x5=20)+(4x2=8)
7x6=42 (7x5=35)+(7x1=7)
